The True Movement Approach

There are many styles of massage out there.  You may have heard some of the common ones such as Swedish, Thai, deep tissue, shiatsu, trigger point, and reflexology.  There are also  specialized modes such as sports, pregnancy, lymphatic drainage, and craniosacral.

A True Movement session based on your needs and how your body responds.  When you visit True Movement Studio, you will have a unique experience that suits you in the moment.  There is not a specific formula or set of moves that I perform each time.

Here are some of the ingredients in my massage recipe:

Traditional Massage

Traditional massage involves the manual manipulation of soft tissues—muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia—to promote healing, relaxation, and improved circulation. I will use various techniques including kneading, stroking, friction, and pressure applied directly to the body.

Guided Stretching

This approach involves guiding clients through various stretching positions and movements to improve flexibility, range of motion, and muscular balance. I am there to provide support, proper alignment, and controlled resistance. Techniques may include passive stretching,  active-assisted stretching, and proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) methods.

Postural Restoration

Postural Restoration Institute (PRI) is a therapeutic approach that addresses asymmetrical patterns and compensatory strategies in human movement and posture. Developed by Ron Hruska, PRI recognizes that humans have inherent anatomical asymmetries—such as a larger right diaphragm and left-oriented heart—that create predictable movement patterns and compensations. This method emphasizes repositioning the ribcage, pelvis, and extremities to optimize function, improve breathing patterns, and reduce compensatory movement behaviors that contribute to chronic pain and movement limitations.

The Feldenkrais Method

The Feldenkrais Method is a somatic educational approach that uses gentle movement and directed attention to improve function, reduce pain, and enhance human potential. It helps people discover more efficient movement patterns by engaging the nervous system's capacity to learn and reorganize. Rather than forcing change, this approach seeks to create conditions for organic learning, helping individuals develop greater self-awareness, flexibility, and coordination while reducing chronic tension and pain.

Functional Integration

Functional Integration is a hands-on therapeutic approach developed within the Feldenkrais Method by Moshe Feldenkrais. Rather than traditional massage, it involves gentle, non-invasive touch and movement to help clients discover new patterns of organization and functioning. Practitioners use slow, precise movements to guide the nervous system toward more efficient ways of moving and being. The work focuses on improving self-awareness, reducing unnecessary muscular effort, and enhancing overall coordination.

Awareness Through Movement (ATM)

Awareness Through Movement (ATM) is a way to explore functional movement patterns like reaching, turning, or walking through novel variations and constraints. The emphasis is on quality of attention and self-observation, noticing differences and discovering easier ways to organize yourself.
